Our Dog Board and Train Program trains in the day and night time; we are firm believers that you should prepare (train) your puppy or dog to respond to as many different situations as well as environments.

Here we have our latest Long Island Dog Board and Train member, Shea, a German Shepherd, who has a ton of energy.

The video below demonstrates the Out of Car Kennel command and the In Car Kennel command.

Our New York Dog Training School can give you a well trained puppy or dog in no time!
Serving Long Island, Brooklyn, Staten Island, The Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan.

Learn more about our New York Dog Training Services by visiting our PAGES to the right!

WE ARE DEDICATED TO GIVING YOU THE DOG OF YOUR DREAMS!

OK, without further delay, our dog training services are not like many others, for example, we have a small variety of puppy and dog training programs, unlike many of our competing New York Dog Training firms.

We believe in selling our dog training services based on what you need, NOT what you can afford! Many dog training services, have a large menu of programs, some legit, some one has to wonder, is it a pricing gimmick?

Our (3) dog training programs are:
Basic Dog Obedience- this entails on the leash training and behavior training.

Advanced Dog Training- On and Off leash training, great for the person that wants to really forge a relationship with their dog!

Our New York Dog Board and Train-is great for all dog or puppy owners, however, it is almost mandatory for people living in the city and need to have better control over their dog becasue of the population.

Manhattan Dog Training requires a greater degree of distraction to prepare your dog or puppy for the countless stimulants they can run into.

Brooklyn Dog Training

Unlike Cities like Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island, and especially, New York City (Manhattan), puppy and dog owners must find value in being oppurtunists as far as dog training is concerned Dog Training in Brooklyn is a lot different than Long Island Dog Training, for example, with the exception of a few parts, you will mostly find yourself in an area that is populated with other dogs or people.

So, how does one obtain the reliable results that comes naturally to those of us who reside in a rural area?

Brooklyn Dog Training vs. Long Island Dog Training

Dog Training in Brooklyn will naturally provide you with the distractions that will challenge your dog, whereas training in a suburban area requires a little more initiative on the pet owners part.

For example, just about every block in Brooklyn you will encounter several people, dogs, and cars. On the busy streets of Long Island, you may be lucky to see a car, a dog, and a person, on your morning walk.

The Levittown Dog Trainer or Whisperer

Many of my neighbors refer to me as the Levittown Dog Whisperer. They see me employing the “stalking” approach, yes, if I see you walking your puppy or dog, I may ask to join you for a bit, just to artificially create that Brooklyn like distraction.

The are easier methods too, a trip to a strip mall, a field, etc….Basically, my point is, dog training can be looked upon in (2) different lights, the first, as a hobby (when I have time for it), the second, as a committment (I will make time for it)….either one is FINE.

Yes, that’s right, I, the founder of Dedicated Dog Training is ok with pet owners not fully committed to dog training.

However, I will not appease those who choose train their dogs part time and expect results of a full time dog trainer

Anyway, enough of making enemies here, the mere question that everyone has on their mind should be….if I live in Long Island why do I need to create a Brooklyn environment?

The simple answer is, you do NOT have to, but to create a distraction every now and then to better understand how your puppy or dog will respond in the event that a real one is facing you guys, is in my opinion, a small inconvienence to gain a large benefit!

Dog Trainers and Expectations

Why Lie?

Far too many times we hear from our members of past dog training experiences with other Long Island Dog Training Services (we are not in the business disclosing other companies); most of the negative experiences can be attributed to just one word “Expectations”

Does the dog training company promise results that realisitcally are out of their reach, or is the member so enthused, frustrated, and/or at witts end to have their puppy or dog trained, they hear what they want to hear?

In our opinion, most of the time it is both. What a combo for disappointment

So, how can you prevent this from happening to you? Well, first off, make sure that you interview at least three dog training schools, if possible more.

By meeting with several different schools you will be better able to perform an opinion on what your real expectations should be

Dog Distraction Training

A little dog distraction training with Nina, our Siberian Husky. Well, not ours, but our latest trainee.

Dog distraction training comes at all different levels, prior to going advanced, you must set a foundation. In other words, the boring stuff comes first before the impressive heeling and attention.

Far to often, many dog trainers and dog owners rush through this very IMPORTANT section of training. Most of the time, you do not see why it was so important until you begin your real dog distraction training in public.

Below is a video of Nina, approximately one week into our program and a day or two into our dog distraction training phase. Enjoy!

West Hills Dog Park

One of the best dog parks on Long Island to visit in our opinion is West Hills Dog Park. This dog park is enormous compared to many others on Long Island, so big that even when there is a large amount of dogs and puppies inside it could still appear empty.

West Hills Dog Park also offers a smaller dog run located on the other side of the larger one. Although, many pet owners with smaller dogs or puppies like to utilize the smaller dog runs, in our opinion it is not neccessary; we like to go by a dog’s personality when selecting what type of dog run is best suited for them.

We can begin to tell you how many times the smaller dog is the aggressor in a dog fight; which leads us into another a good qaulity of the West Hills Dog Park, its caliber of responsible dog owners. In our opinion, compared to other dog parks, the people are much more observant of their pups and dogs at West Hills Dog Park.

When you have pet owners that are fun and aware of their dogs’ conduct coupled with an enormous dog run located with a parking lot making it easy to enter the dog run with your k9 pal, you have the ingredients for a Great Day!

We strongly recommend visiting the West Hills Dog Park if you haven’t already, if you have, then we look forward to seeing you there!

How to Get a Dog To Stop Chewing

May 6, 2011
posted by admin @ 5:52 pm

Many puppy owners feel the repercussion of excusing their puppy’s tendency to chew on things; they attribute the behavior to the age of their cute k9.  Correct as they are, puppy owners, with a little persistency, can prevent themselves from asking the future question of “how to get a dog to stop chewing?”

So, how does a pet owner conquer puppy chewing before it becomes a problem of dog chewing?  Persistency and a strategy is key to mitigating and ultimately stopping this behavior.  You can find a few methods on how to get a dog to stop chewing on their site but, prior to going there, first you must understand what is usually the major obstacle when training a puppy, especially when corrections are needed.  FAMILY, FRIENDS, FAMILY, FRIENDS!

Yes, everyone will need to be on the same page.  You want to send the correct message to the puppy.  If chewing on certain items are forbidden, it must be forbidden no matter what family member is present if you are looking to yield the best results.

Long Island Dog Board and Train

Tucker Belle said enough is enough to me this morning; she was tired of the light training that we begin all our Long Island Dog Board and Train members with.  So, being that I was in the holiday spirit, I gave in.

Well, should have brought the business cards today!  She received comments from everyone!

Our Long Island Dog Training School firmly believes in using a non cookie-cutter approach, we much rather observe when a dog or puppy is ready to move on to the next level in their Long Island Dog Board and Train Program; Tucker Belle clearly was ready!
